Hi everyone,

Would really love you insight on this. I'm looking to buy my first porsche and I have a choice of a limited edition 2008 3.4 Cayman S sport 303 bhp automatic or a 2009 2.9 normal Cayman. If I'm not wrong the base model of the 2009 facelift model is faster than the 2008 Cayman S. would love to hear your insight?

 

No way is a base 2009 faster than a 08 S

 

I would agree that it would not be faster but the PDK is a nice option, especially mapping that to a s engine

 

I totally agree that the 2009 2.9 Cayman is definitely not faster than the 2008 Cayman S Sport but PDK is a very nice option. However, all things being equal, I would go with the 2008 Cayman S Sport. If your drive both cars I am sure you will feel the difference in power. I had a 2008 Cayman S and while it was in for service I drove a 2013 loaner Boxster and could definitely tell that my 2008 Cayman S had more power.

 

Go the CS route!

 

Look at the condition of both cars and drive both if possible. The newer model has some nice upgrades over the 987.1. Not the least of these is the PDK over the Tiptronic auto. The 09 doesn't have an IMS bearing to worry about either. If power is your main driver get the 08 but the 09 may surprise you with the PDK . Have fun making your decision.
