The Cayman is a going to be a great car, but it's always going to be considered a Boxster with a hardtop. It will never reach the status of a 911.
If you go with the Vette, you'll be getting the best Chevy has to offer. It's an impressive machine, but you'll see them everywhere. It comes down to whether or not you're a "Vette" guy.
Good luck!

I don't think this is a comparison on anything other than price. The Z06 is a legit supercar and will destroy a Cayman on the strip, on the track, and everywhere in between.

The Z06 is great but makes different compromises than the Cayman. A better comparison for the Z06 would be the Viper. They tend to appeal to similar people, unless people are buying them for total thrash around third or fourth cars. I agree with the earlier question, are you a Vette guy or not, otherwise I think you will feel like a fish out of water if it is a primary car.
I always say that I would love to borrow a Z06 for a couple of weeks, but I don't want to own one. To me, the Cayman S is still a strong performer in all areas, particularly handling, and I believe that I will be happier for longer owning it than I would a Z06. I'm not a Vette guy.
When I read about the Z06 or any new Vette and look at them in the magazines, I drool a bit, but when I see any Vette (even the new ones) on the road, I think...yawn, I'm glad I continue to resist that urge.

I'd get the Cayman S, but I'm not a vette guy and don't think I could handle/need all that power at this stage in life.
The Cayman S will do me more then fine, and will look and just feel so much better.
Ahh, the smell of a new Porsche interior!
Get a white one with white 20" techarts like the guy with the 997S cab on this forum, sounds like ghey colorcombo but it looks sex.

The Porsche will be the far more rewarding and enjoyable car to drive. The Corvette will be the better performer. It all depends on what is most important to you. If someone was paying me to win races, I would get the Vette. Since I drive for personal pleasure, I prefer a Porsche.

I've had a early Z06 (2001), a ZR1 (1991) in addition to several other Corvettes. I sat in a 2005 Corvette and didn't like the drivers orientation and visibility. My wife has a Boxster S and I have a 997.
In my mind there is no comparison..the Porsche wins, hands down. There is more to a car than acceleration. Porsche is a driving experience second to none.
