What do you all think? There are some crazy deals on a few in my area. $22k for a 2001 with 20k miles boxster salvaged title.

I see 97-99 Boxters w/ 30-40k mi under $30k now. I'd rather have a clean title w more miles than a salvaged title. If you ever try to sell a salvaged car, you'll have a loooong time selling it. You may have frame damage or flood which can't really be fixed to orig condition.

usually frame damage is too much work and not worth doing
but selling a salvaged car is not really that hard, but when you get to these higher end cars it will vary, most people who buy these would want a clean title, however you may be able to find someone who wants just a track car/weekend cruiser/show car, who will buy a salvaged, or someone who wants one but can't afford clean title one

Sorry, its a 5sp. Good luck with your search. Stay away from the salvage cars, you will be taking it in the butt with re-sale in the future as well as possible problems during ownership. A nice 00 can be found for that price. You may need to travel a bit farther than you wanted but youll find one.

There are plenty of Boxsters out there than can be bought for the same ballpark price that have not been salvaged. Although many have a higher mileage than 20k, I'd definately go for one with a clean title. Just check out eBay.

Although I'm not incredibly fond of the 986, you can find a nice Boxster S there for under $30,000.

Most insurance companies won't give you physical damage coverage on a car with a salvaged title either. So if you get in a wreck, you'll be out of luck.
