when can we see the finished product
It will run and drive by Wed. Next week. I'm making the parts list tonight for what we will need gasket wise to install some of the CaymanS engine related components. Mostly water related pieces that need to be brought over the from the Cayman engine.

BradS -

You suck and I hate you ;-) I am jealous.

Out of morbid curiosity, where does one source a crate 997S motor?

You would be amazed at how many people "hate" me

We called up our good friend Terry W. who runs Porsche's only wharehouse on the west coast (Ontario CA.) and said: "Terry, we need a X51 engine". Terry said: "Do you want to purchase the crate it comes in?" "Yes" we said. Then he asked (with tongue planted firmly in cheek) "Do you have a core engine?" umm.. NO. 15.5 shipped to us with no core. I think Porsche only had a total of 5 or something available. When you see pics of ANY X51 3.8 engine "supposedly" in a certain conversion CaymanS out there... look for the cosmoline on the bottom of the engine in the pics. NO new engine from Porsche comes with cosmoline on it. This is also a VERY easy way to find out if your engine has ever been replaced... the replacement engines dont have the cosmo!

I'm feeling picture happy tonight..

Maybe it is the paint fumes from painting the cage in our Spec Boxster..

This might be a little crazy, but is it possible to swap in the 997S motor into a cayman and put an evo supercharger on it? I don't think anyone would be complaining about lack of power at that point.

OK. Update: We havent pulled anything out the car. The owner didnt want us pulling the car apart until the GT3 bumper and 997 headlights arrived and were painted.

We didnt blame him for that

Tonight the car comes in and we start yanking everything out. All the parts are now here and painted to match the car.

I'll document with digital pics the yanking process and the front bumper/fenders/headlight install.

Sorry for the delay. Been busy with race stuff.

I enjoy doing it live. Makes people sit in front of the computer and "wait" for the next reply (they keeo hitting F5/refresh)

Much like the Howard Stern theory: "what will he say next"??

"what will he *post* next"??
