X51 for our Cayman
#3
I have already measured the intake against a stock 996 engine. It appears to be the same heigth. My concern: I dont like how others drop the 996 engine to fit under the stock engine cover. Every car I have seen done this way has bashed in headers..
We will probably make a new engine cover.

Brad,
Thanks for the insight through the PM. I just put a 3.8L crate motor on order for my Boxster S. That, along with headers, cats, ECU, lightweight flywheel, and a sport clutch. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm excited about finally pulling the trigger on this car. FVD says it should be good for about 380hp of fun.

Thanks for the good wishes. I hope that this will be a solid solution to the age-old problem with a great car.
It just didn't have enough HP.
I'll post pics of the progress once it starts.
