Cutting a Porsche Boxster in Half

A couple of weeks ago, we shared a video of YouTuber Casey Putsch https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/boxster-cayman/438351-porsche-boxster-extreme-weight-reduction-good-cause.html#post4830752]cutting all the body panels off of a Porsche Boxster. While it may have seemed like a crazy stunt for YouTube, Putsch's goal was actually to rebuild the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lykan_HyperSport]Lykan Hypersport stunt vehicle used in the Fast and the Furious Live arena tour with the students of his http://geniusgarageracing.com/the-program/]Genius Garage program.

This week, Putsch and one of his Genius Garage students set out to cut the Boxster platform car in half.

Why?

In order to turn the Boxster into a Hypersport, Putsch and team need to extend the Porsche's unibody chassis by seven inches, which means chopping the car in half, and then welding in fresh steel plates and structural supports. To prep for this job, they first removed several coolant hoses from under the car, and extend the Boxster's wiring harnesses by eight inches on each side. Putsch plans to reuse the stock seat mounts, shifter mounts, and even the e-brake cable (which also needs to be extended). Then it's time to take out the power saw. Check it out!
