Simple Performance Upgrades

Hi guys,

I would like to increase the performance of my 2.7 Boxster without spending big bucks. It pretty sure it was chipped by the previous owner (not sure how to tell) and I was looking for some simple DIY mods.

Having looked through this forum it seems that an induction kit might be worth while. What's going to give me the best bang for my buck?

Thanks, I appreciate all of your comments.

Hi Fellow Aussie. I have the powerflow induction kit from Performance products (pod filter). I cant really say that I feel that much more power but it's one of the value for money upgrades (more induction roar though).
I also trailed a REMUS exhaust but quickly gave it back after noticing a drone at around 4500rpm and NO noticeable power gain. (Dyno'd before and after... 3kw more at 5,800rpm!). I believe there are other exhaust / header combos which could give better power. Haven't tried chipping it though.

Best bang for your buck is going to be desnorkling it. Product wise... to get real results out of an intake you will need to have a calibrated chip. Bypass pipes to replace the secondary cats will help as well... (~$500 from fabspeed) or you can make your own.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it, although because I'm in Australia I'm not sure how to get the chipped mapped to match the intake.

i noticed a nice diff in sound as well by desnorkeling.
then few days later i installed the EVO intake, and WOW, night and day diff, but performance wise, probably no gains if any, but the sound alone is worth the money.

Removing the restrictor plate from the intake vent on the driver side. Detailed article on caymanclub....real easy to do took me like 15 minutes.
