I have my own shop account with a dealer by me, those are wholesale prices. Guessing retail would be 3-4 grand higher...

John from Pepe Porsche just called and said there are still a crap load of salt stuck under the car from Bonneville, and there is something definitely broken inside. More updates to come....

I would give them a bunch of **** if they don't cover that under warranty. When I lived in Germany I owned an E46 M3 and there were at least a couple dozen times I would be humming along on the autobahn bouncing off the rev limiter in 6th gear for 5+ minutes at a time. No problems.

After all that's what the red limiter is for. It's not where the engine dies but ensures a safety margin for your engine. It's not like you moneyshifted it either...

Warranty is like insurance. Just give them a reason to decline it and they will.

I just spoke to John from Pepe Porsche and they're putting in the engine as we speak! Porsche is covering it. I didn't expect an answer until Monday, but they totally blew all my expectations...He said it should be done by tomorrow! Talk about service, less than a week I got a new engine in my 987.

Now it's time to convience my significant other for the X51 Transplant....any good suggestions?

Tell her you need a new more reliable engine. You can't change engines every 2 months etc lol And buy her something nice.

Thanks for coming out to the salt flats, RJ, and congrats on getting your motor covered.

For those interested, this was the kick-off event for the AKA Rally. The first batch of photos is up here:

@ NYSpeedRacer

How hard did you drive the engine to blow it? How often were you visiting 6k+ rpms? How many miles were on it?

They're still working out the 'Kinks' and making sure everything runs smoothly....

I wonder what they mean by 'Kinks'?

Maybe they put that X51 transplant in there and they are having trouble getting everything lined up?
