yes, i know the original owner who cancelled on this order and according to him, DFC has already found a new buyer for this.
I was waiting in line for this through the original owner. DFC did not allow the original owner to pick somebody to purchase this and wanted to give this away to people who were on the waiting list for one. So I was quite surprised that the sales rep. is asking around for buyers.

From some of the posts I've read there seems to be a misconception regarding the difference in Canadian and US dealer MRSP's. Despite Porsche Canada having decreased prices by 10% on its 2008MY vehicles and Porsche US raising prices by 3% there is still a significant cross border price gap. For example, a base 2008 Turbo Coupe MSRP's in Canada for CDN$158,300. The same vehicle MSRP's in the US for US$133,900. With the currencies roughly at par, by adding the import tax of 6.1% this US car would cost $142,100, a difference of $16,200 or about 10%. Its up to the individual if the savings are worth the process of importing a car into Canada however the price difference is real and as others have stated the selection of pre-owned cars available in the US is impressive. We haven't heard from anyone who has had the Transport Canada/RIV mandated bumper mods done (which I also agree are contrived) for a 2008 however that seems to be the only unknown additional cost (beyond some minor costs relating to RIV inspections etc and possibly transporter costs) at this point.

Just for reference purposes, you don't have to use Canadian Tire to do the inspections there are other shops that are certified to do this, I took mine to a local shop that did a good job and were very cooperative and careful with the car.

really? is this the normal safety inspection certifications ? I know you're from the west coast, but in Ontario, we have a safety certification for about $40-60 (depending on where you go) for this inspection. If it's the same one, then I prefer to bring to my own mechanic than Cdn tire.
