pitting in aluminium

My new Cayenne ( 6 months) has pitting in the aluminium strip below the door panel. The fellow who details my cars says all Cayennes have pitting in the same spot. I assume that would be those in states who use salt on the road during the winter.
Anyone else notice the pitting ?
Jim

I have not seen your Cayenne to notice the pitting.

Mine has been driven all winter, lots of snow and salt in RI, but no pitting. I wash it LOTS, though.

I have noticed this on all of the Cayennes I have seen as well. It is the aluminum trim strip belw the doors on the side panels. It seems to stain and pit very easy and is not easy to clean. All wax or solid materials seems to stain it. Does anyone know a simple way to clean this more effectively?

Hey use this stuff that you can find at ace hardware called NEVR DULL. Its like a cotton based fiber! Just tear out peices of it and wipe it on the aluminum trim around the car, although I personally wouldnt do the inside (only the exterior)! Use a new peice for each peice of the trim that you do, and when you use it press kind of hard, but not too hard because you dont want to over do it. The more you go over each peice with firm pressure, the cleaner it will get. Its like a wax, so you let it haze for a couple of minutes. Then use a rag or towel or whatever to wipe it off! I used it on my cayenne, and sure does it work! And guess what else, it not only makes it look brand new: but it helps preventing the problem in the future! I live in arizona, so i dont really have a salt problem, but the people up North would sure enjoy this stuff. Trust me, it was a miracle!

Hope this helps! Sorry about it eing so long... Just thought I'd show how it really does work

Ryan
