CD Changer question?

CD Changer question?
I just purchased a CD4 changer, mounting bracket for a Cayenne and of course the cartridge for $583.00...
My CS currently has the CDR-23... My question is; does the CS come with the changer cable already installed or do I have to buy the cable from the dealer and tear the car apart installing it...

Really it all depends on your model year. If its late 04 or newer, the fibre optic cable and the power supply is tucked away in the rear mounting location and it is plug and play for most cars.
To install you have to remove quite a bit of trim but I have information which may help.

If you have amplifier and car 2005+ MY cables already in trunk and you do not need bracket. If no amp - I think no cables. Anycase, CD changer must be programmed into Audio system wit porsche tester.

Thanks for the information you sent... It is invaluable... I would think the head unit would recognize the changer as soon as it's plugged into the loop...

Generally CDC-4 is not plug n play!!!! Anycase, if system will start works with changer a lot of errors will present in PCM system, in interface and most ring, can cause unstable working. So visit dealer for sure.

In my 04 S, I installed it without issue, plug-n-play! Just make sure you connect the fibre cables properly, you are just adding on to the fibre "ring" of the most system. The changer should come with the fibre cables needed to tap into the amp, then to the CDC.

Bull30, who asked the question, is interested in finding out about an installation in a CDR-23 setup not PCM. On 2005 and up the whole thing is setup just waiting for the changer to be plugged in.

You are correct... My wife's CS is non-pcm... I'm hoping your info is correct as the install was just made a lot easier...

Thanks for the info... I pulled off the right rear access cover and there was the changer bracket with both connectors sitting right there... I looks like an extremely straight forward project...
