Question for experts in wheels :)

I wanted to get 22x10.0 HRE 645R but I was told that they only make 9.5".

With 9.5", I can have 2" lip which means the inner is 7". This fits the Cayenne perfectly. I was also told that HRE can make 3.5" lip with 6" inner barrel. But is it possible for me to get the combination of the two? So front wheels will have 2" lip and rear 3.5" lip. I understand that 3.5" lip will not fit in the front because of the huge brakes. But does it mean that it won't fit the rear as well?

And I have another question, why can't I get 22x10 with 2" lip? They do not make 8" inner barrel?

thanks and sorry for asking about the same question for thousands of times... I want to make sure I order the correct one.

Deetz how much are you getting your HREs with the Diamaras Tires? And how much does it take to balance and install. Lastly, how much would it be to have each wheel painted black? (I would go for HRE but the White center Gembellas won't leave my mind, they are amazing also) PLEASE E-MAIL ME at: okkhjoon@aol.com

Thank you very much

I spoke directly with Mike at HRE to express DEETZ's concerns since I am a reseller. Mike explained over the phone exactly why they do not offer 10 inch wide rims for the Cayenne and it basically came down to tire fitment, incorrect fitment on the car, and improper offsets to deal with the cayenne brake clearance. He was willing to make us a completely custom rim but said it would not fit the vehicle correclty resulting in a extension of the wheel from the fenderwell.

Jon Tab:

Having the wheel black is a no cost option from HRE. Check out their site www.hrewheels.com for further information. Hope this helps.

The question's answer depends on most of the things you guys have touched on. Most of the time (for one piece, especially) the fitments are derived on what center section they can make to fit the most cars without making modifications. IE they'll make a 9.5" but not a 10" because a 9.5 will fit more cars. HRE make most of thier stuff to fit so they work a little closer. But offset, center bore, bolt pattern, and brake caliper clearance are the biggest reasons why a wheel will/will not fit. You combine that with large brakes and tight wheelwell clearance and the dimensions become very critical. The difference between rubbing and not can be determined by changes in overall diameter as little as .2".

I don't know what the issue is??
I have 21" BBS wheels on my Turbo..... RXII's
with 285/35's in front
and 325/30's in the rear
10 inch rims in the front
10 1/2 inch in the rear
the fitment and clearances are perfect
they come right to the edge of the fenderwell and look
AWESOME !

stephen: why did you choose to get different size front and rear? What tires are you using? Do you like the wheels?

this is a staggered setup..... just like on the 996's
handling is improved (like on rails now)
as long as the overall diameters of the setup are within 3% I believe, it is ok just like on the AWD 996's
this setup was just released by BBS for the cayenne in conjunction with Michelin.....
michelin Diamaris 325/30-21 and 285/35-21 are the tires
I did it for the size rims and tires that would work... not that I love the wheel design itself (more work to keep clean)
I will post some more pics ... later

Stephen: thanks alot, another possibility for me is to get 22x9.5F and 22x10.5R and I don't think a single tire brand offers both sizes.

BTW these BBS rims weight.... is 28 lbs
the 19" cayenne design rims I replaced weigh 32 lbs
with the larger tires i believe it is a wash .....but
I get lareger rims and HUGE tires with no weight penalty
