Reasonable Exhaust Options
Hi folks,
Take a look and let me know what you think of the exhaust I had installed on my S. I has two stainless polished mufflers welded in place of the stock muffler. They are identical to the mufflers used on a couple of the very high dollar set ups but were much less expensive since I didn't have to pay for the brand name. My stock tips fit right on and it sounds AWESOME! The shop is a well known custom exhaust shop in central NJ who does top quality work and had done some work on my 69 Mustang last year. The whole thing took just a couple of hours and cost less than 25% of some of the systems I've seen for the S or TT. What does everyone think?
thx,
Paul

i did the same thing......with no mufflers . But the turbos really quiet mine down. .At the 6speed G2G this weekend, some of the guys (greyghost, RDH, NYSE guy, Gary (FL) heard it and loved it. My truck almost sounds like a 60's muscle car reving, a really badass european V8 turbo at acceleration, and a race car at idle!

Some answers to questions
Hi Folks,
The whole set up cost me about $500 (parts and labor) and I would highly recommend this shop in Trenton, NJ (Mufflex, see them at http://www.mufflex-performance.com/home.html ). I have no affiliation with them other than having had them do a complete (and very difficult) custom exhaust for my 69 Mach I last year and this set up for me this year. I don't have the equipment to do a sound clip for you but the mufflers are the same as those used on another other high buck set up and the sound is the same. They are Magnaflow mufflers (14 inch length) and are readily available. From inside the S with the windows shut there is very little difference in interior sound. You can hear the difference only if you're listening for it. With all of the windows open you can hear a more agressive sound but you would think it was almost stock if you hadn't heard an S before as that is what you'd expect from a Porsche. From outside at idle its just a little bit noticable and sounds a little more like a V8. From outside at full throttle it sounds like a V8 Porsche should sound. Nobody will complain that its too loud but a few folks might look up to see what it was that sounded like "high performance". You won't be mistaken for a V6 C. To pass the big test I took SWMBO for a ride and she didn't notice until I rolled down the windows and floored it and asked her to listen (sounded great at 6,000 RPM).
Hope that helps,
Paul
