2008 vs 2009 Cayenne
Hi there,
I am in the market for some SUVs and a Cayenne S is a solid consideration. My question is, should I wait for the 2009, or get a 2008 now (which in a few months the dealer will probably give more discounts during the MY change)?
Also, how much off MSRP are 08 Cayenne S now? In-stock or order? I am looking for one that has more options but it seems that most cars on the lot are fairly basic, so to speak. Namely I want the 4-zone climate and rear window shades, in addition to full leather interior, PCM, air suspension, etc.
Thanks for your help guys!

I think the best way is to get a 2008 model, because you can spend more time enjoying the car rather than waiting 5-6 months for a new cayenne to arrive to you. The Cayenne is in the market for nearly 5 years now and its going to be changed 2-3 years down the road, by getting the 2008 you will have more time to experience the Cayenne rather than worrying of the 2nd generation model and not to forget the better discounts you get on showroom cars.
I have all of the options you listed but not the full leather, I don't think you can find Cayenne S equipped with full leather easily as the majority of which I have seen are in partial leather.
The 4-zone climate and rear window shades are a must and whilst your at it get the all weather floor mats that come in Rubber.

No major changes announced should be the same car. Hopefully with bluetooth and MP3 Connectivity as options but no one knows for sure.
Full leather on a Cayenne S is extremely rare. I think Ive seen 2 in the past 3 years!

Regarding discounts
The couple of dealers I've talked to tell me that discounts are very tight. That they're selling all they can get, especially the S model, and with Porsche sending more cars to places like China the supply is very getting worse. I've seen some pretty big dealers with only four or five new Cayennes in stock. If I remember right, the Porsche Club magazine just said the Cayenne is a 21 day supply right now, which is very low.

Hi,
I'm new here...really like the site. Anyway, I'm in the same situation...getting ready to order a new Cayenne and wondering if anyone knows when the build dates begin for MY2009. I'm ready to order now, but my nearest dealer was somewhat vague whether it would be a 2008 or 2009. I'm looking at an odd combo of equipment (V6/6-speed manual/PASM/very heavily optioned...yeah, I know...bad for resale value, but that isn't a concern), so there's no way I'll find one in stock. As it stands I think there is only one new 6-speed manual available in the entire region.
I've heard that some dealers may be reluctant to order such a vehicle, but hopefully that won't be an issue. Any ideas on what to expect in terms of a discount on a special order? The way I've spec'd it out, it looks like there is about $9,000 profit, which seems excessive, especially since there would be no risk on the dealer's part (simple cash deal). Any advice?
