Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5W-40 for Cayenne

What do you think about this oil?

Will it damage the engine if using it?

I wouldn't use it ... why not use what is specified by Porsche?

Mobil 1 0W-40

The "Diesel" variant? Hmmm.

Based on the Mobil 1 website, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 is not approved by Porsche.

I wouldn't use it ... but remember, you live in the U.S.A. ... you can do whatever you want (within reason).

Old topic but I saw this post and was wondering the same thing... Porsche recommends either Mobile 1 in 0w-40 or 5w-40. I want to run the 5w-40 (warmer temps) however Mobile 1 only offers it in the diesel variant. Anyone else using this? I read it also helps with oil consumption.

5w-40 is a slightly thicker oil which is designed for motors that run hot. As I'm sure you know turbo engines produced much more heat then NA motors let alone a twin turbo. Thats what this oil is designed for. It is not just for diesel cars, that is mainly marketing...

Also Mobil 0w-40 is known to shear rather quickly...to resemble a 30 weight.

Don't use a 5w in temperatures below zero, for that use the 0w...fyi
