For Sale - 2004 RUF Dakara 550 (550 HP and 649 FtLb)
There is a 2004 RUF Dakara 550 (2004 Cayenne Turbo with a RUF conversion) for sale at RUF Auto Centre in Dallas Texas.
I have no affiliation with the seller other than owning one of these beasts. This vehicle has a Dakara 550 conversion (modifed turbos, intercoolers, air filters, tuned ECU, high-flow catalytic converters and sport exhaust). Rated power is 550 horsepower and the torque is rated at 649 foot pounds @ 3000 - 3500 RPM.
To date, in the USA there are only 5 RUF Dakara conversions - four are 550 conversions and one at 570 (570 HP / 656 foot pounds).
For more information, contact Jonathan at RUF Auto Centre.

Here is what the exhaust system sounds like at cold and warm idle.

Yes, the picture shown is the actual truck that is for sale. Color is Titanium Metallic with black leather interior.
And yes, my avatar is a picture of my 2004 RUF Dakara 550. RUF, unlike other companies, i.e. TechART, Rinnspeed, does not have "loud" body work. RUF is performance first, then cosmetics. My Dakara looks like a standard Cayenne Turbo. It kinda is a Sleeper of sorts, until my right foot takes over and the engine begins to roar. Other than an engine conversion, brakes, and wheels, RUF doesn't offer too much (RUF has an instrument panel with RUF-themed graphics, and offers a lowering module too).
If one wants a clean (body-wise) but wickedly fast Cayenne, the RUF Dakara is hard to beat.

I wonder how powder coated RUF wheels would look?

At this time, I just have the 550 conversion. In the future I will be upgrading the brakes to 380 mm in the front and 358 mm in the rear. As you all might already know this, the 955 Turbo S has upgraded brakes - this is because the OE brakes on the 955 Turbo are inadequate - and trust me, they are. Also, I will be lowering the body with either links or a module. I'm also considering the IPD intake plenum, which reportably yields 32 HP and 25 foot pound gain on the stock 955 Turbo.
I would highly recommend anybody considering upgrading from a Cayenne or a Cayenne S to a Cayenne Turbo to look at this RUF Dakara 550 ... it's priced right too.
