265/35/22 or 285/40/22

265/35/22 or 285/40/22
Guys,
Has anyone run a 285/40/22 tire size on a CTT? wondering if there will be rubbing / steering issues?
Situation:
I am going to get a second set of wheels for the winter and decided the techno 22" replica style. This rim has a 10" width.
The guy from discount tire said the only all-season I could fit on there is 265/35/22 Falken Ziex S/TZ-04. Is this tire going to be to tight for the rim?![Confused](https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I found the same Falken tire in 285/40/22 which is a better size for the wheel but is greater than the max height. I am worried about rubbing issues etc.![Confused](https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
This set of wheels is a second set for winter driving. I am inclined to go with the Falken tires because the tread pattern looks more aggressive and deeper than other all seasons.
There is also a Yoko Parada Spec-X with 285/35/22 which is same size as my current 22" summer rims. The tread pattern does not look as deep/winter friendly.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You should not run a 285/40/22 on your CTT - that would throw off your AWD and your speedo by 8%. You are going over 3% of the ratios that came with the CTT.
The 265's for winter is fine it will fit a 10" rim no problem. You are not going to looks for winter its just a winter wheel. If it were me - I would use a 20" wheel Techno and run better winter tires and you can get them in a wider size.

thanks for your suggestion i will definitely stay away from the 285/40/22.
i now need to weigh the performance of all-season vs. sole winter to looks. freakin tough decision.
i have driven the ml500 in snow conditions with all seasons and it seems to do fine with the AWD. does anyone have any horror snow stories with all-seasons + cayenne and snow!
i have attached a picture of falken's alll-season tread

matt - I would stick with 20's for winter. No need to have bling factor while you are driving through the mudd and the muck. They are supposed to be beaters for winter. The replica Techno's are cheap and will suffice for the winter. Your call of course. Just a suggestion. As I said there are more selections at 20's than 22's.

I would not go with anything larger than 19" for winter especially in Calgary. The problem is that the tires get wider with the larger rims and they lose traction in snow and ice. Large rims are much nicer no doubt but safety comes first....
