Aftermarket tow hitch on '08 GTS

Anyone had this work done? I cant bear to spend the $1600 that the dealer is charging. I need a tow hitch for my bikes mainly. Do you have to cut a hole in the rear bumber as there is not an opening for the reciever to come out. Anyone know of an aftermarket place in the DC area? Uhaul wont touch it. Thanks for the help.

You should have ordered your GTS with the trailer hitch. I had a 04 "S" and decided that I would rather put my mtn. bike inside it, rather than spend the money for an aftermarket trailer hitch. The dealer said it would cost up to $2000 for the hitch and installation.
This time I spent the extra cash and got my GTS with a hitch.

Maybe try uhaul? I know they sell hitches and might steer you in the right direction for the install.

Good luck!
Paul

wish I had one for this boat I am thinking about purchasing, not to mention my dirt bikes.

Bah, oh well.
At least our GX470 does.

I might have one installed in the future, but 2000, that's just rediculous.

Ya, I wish I would have negociated it with the purch but it was like pulling teeth to get anything out of my dealer. I did it myself on the X5 but I'm a little attached to GTS right now. Too bad theres not a reputable place to take it.

I noticed in Europe they have a power hitch. Its really cool! A button they push in the cockpit that drops the hitch and turns it to the rear. Then when they hide it it drops turns and goes under the bumper...

Took pictures for you guys, will post soon.
I talked to the parts guys and they said that there hitch is diffrent so you cannot retrofit it on a US car. It is very cool the way it works. You cannot tell that it is there even when you look for it.
The cost for the bumper hitch and electric switch is approx 3500USD.
