Ecu Flash On Cayenne Turbo

I was just getting ready to get my ecu flashed, but I am still trying to figure out what company (GIAC, OCT, FVD) to go with cause I want make sure I get the most power out of my decision. Also if anybody knows is there somewhere in Florida where you can actually have a dyno tune done since that is what I have always done with my corvettes in the past. Thanks

I flashed mine with O.CT. Car ran great...remove all the lag that the stock software has.

I've been thinking about a flash as well but the dealership has got me kinda scared about doing so. They said they've only had two blown motors in the CTTs and both were chipped. At $23k for a new motor, they said it isn't worth it. Now, I'm not typically scared of modifying cars. I dumped a ton of stuff into my CTS-V to bump it up to 480rwhp/445rwtq and never thought twice about blowing the motor or voiding the warranty but at $23k for a new motor in the Porsche I am a little cautious. Any input on the "safety" of upping the boost in these CTTs? Mine is an '05.

Their main website doesn't show any info on the different Cayenne packages. You have a different link or do I have to call? What's a Stg2 for the CTT?

It was Barrier...I didn't ask which flash. Are they a mod-friendly kind of dealership? Bellevue Cadillac was awesome to me even though I was highly modified. Wondering what kind of outfit Barrier is when it comes to aftermarket?

Its an Austrian brand chip being distributed by Stratmosphere. They are very well known in the RS6 Arena.

http://www.oct-tuning.com

I got mine flashed locally, but I am sure there are some reps nationwide though.

As for the chip blowing up, I chipped my Audi A4 at 5,000miles. Right not its way past 70,000miles. Car ran fine. Only way these things will blow is if you do not take proper maintenance to it or gently warm up the engine oil or do a cool down after a hard drive.

Thanks for the info- Odd they don't seem to do any chip tuning for 997 / 996 NA cars.

Chipping a 1.8T or 2.0T 4-cyl motor is not the same thing as chipping a 4.5L twin turbo motor. There are literally tens of thousands more A4 cars running around to 'test' the tunes before they're released to the public. I'm not saying that the Porsche's block shouldn't be able to handle more boost safely but it's really apples to oranges.

MmMm isnt flashing a MED 7 the same? Well actually part of the reason I picked O.CT is because its TUV rated. Also...a few of my RS6 friends happened to use their tune and they are more rarer than Cayenne Turbo with less than 1000 coming into the US.

What's a MED 7? My point wasn't questioning the quality of the tune done by OCT. Rather, I was just trying to point out that the longevity of an aftermarket-tuned CTT motor can't be assumed just because your A4 has held up. Again, they're just different motors with different states of tune and, therefore, it's an apples to oranges comparison.

I got the flash through Protosport in NJ who also modded my 996TT. You are correct the link on Proto's site does not show Cayenne products but if you call Todd I'm sure he can answer your questions.

STG2 is generally recognised as having ECU, Intake and Exhaust.

I don't know if they're mod-friendly, but I can just say they've been really good before and after my warranty was finished. I'll give 'em a call and ask what chips those CTTs were running, and maybe more background info on them. So far, searching this board and renntech.org, I haven't found anybody having problems with flashes.

As an FYI, I was going to go with Upsolute, and I've talked to another guy in NJ who had his CTT done and he recommends it. If I decide to do it I'll send the ECU to Jasper Motorwerks in SoCal for the flash.
