Gas Milage

I thought this was interesting.

As my avitar shows I have modded both an 08 CTT and an 07 997TT. I was curious about gas milage and here are my results on about 1/2 a tank of gas on both vehicles (the 997 had about 30% 100 octane and the CTT was pump 91). I tryed to drive somewhat low key with a few spurts of adrenaline...

CTT got an avg of 13.1 mpg
997TT got an avg of 18.2 mpg

This was actually a surprise to me that the 997 got such great milage and the opposite for the CTT.

I get about 20 miles to the gallon in the city in my 997C2S, so for a modded turbo, 18 is excellent.

My Touareg V8 (poor mans Cayenne S), gets very similar mpg as your CTT.

Nice cars BTW!

Last week I drove from CO to TX.
On the way there I averaged 18.2mpg at 80mph.
On the way back so going up in altitude, by about 5,000 ft, I averaged 15.3 mpg at the same speed.
Thought it did pretty good.
I have come to hate the NAV system, it is pure junk, but besides that can't complain.

Nice to know everyone else is getting milage in the teens. I thought the mods might have brought the milage down but it appears its about the same as stock.

Thanx for the feedback.

picked up a gts a couple of weeks ago, and i started off averaging 12.1mpg in the city W/"a few spurts of adrenaline...". Now after reaching about 800miles im starting to average 14.2mps (city) even with the "a few spurts of adrenaline..." I average about 17.7mpg on the highway.

With standard combined driving, the mileage I get is 13 MPG. When I'm driving a lot of highway, I average 15 MPG. When I'm running Wild in the local canyons, I average between 6 - 9 MPG.

WHen I was at sea level I average 3-4 mpg more than current altitude.
Being a mile high doesn't help my mpg.

LOL.. u only went about 34.1 miles, approx 2 gallons by your avg. Go at least 3/4 tank and then report back, I'd be really interested. It felt like my 04 CTT got better milage then the 08.

Btw nice commute...lol that hwy or city (g).

The secret was the same driving style. If you add to this about the same level of power of the two cars and the significant extra weight of the cayenne, you have the explianation of your result.
