for comparison purposes i drove my friends Toureg with 19" snows. marginally better performance.
glad to hear that the 21" snows are working well.

anyone know if there's any negatives to switching tires for the same set of rims twice a year? the dealer was trying to push me into a set of 18"s or 19"s for a winter setup, and i mentioned i was considering a set of 21" snows. he said his service guys recommend not playing with the rims twice a year like that. i don't know much about this so i thought i would throw it up on here. thanks in advance

I'd go with a dedicated winter setup this way you can get max winter performance in rain and snow. Its not a big deal to switch wheels, all you need is a place to store them

BUT JUST DROVE FROM CO TO TX WITH MY 18 INCH PERELLI SNOW AND ICE, AND PERFECT.

I was driving through a blizzard the whole entire way, and they were great!!!!
on snow, packed snow, and ice, flawless.

perfect tire for the best grip.
not sure about how long they will last, but performance was perfect.
the sipening does wonders.
these are stock sipened, but i would recommend these to all.

dedicated winter setup on 18's<<<<<

I have 20" Ice/Snow Scorpions for my CTTS and they are great. I would imagine the 21"s should be fine unless the snow is DEEP.

Matt,

I'm also in Calgary with a Cayenne S and also running the ice and snow tires, I did not see any directional arrows on the tires.

The weather is too cold although I can't remember the last time we had a white christmas. I still miss driving the car and can't wait for summer.

On a side note I haven't really been that impressed with the tires for the current road conditions our previous audi seemed so much better??

the tires are not directional
was the audi a sedan ? probably better because it is lighter with smaller wheels

the cayenne is my first 4wd so maybe that is the reason why I sound "overly" impressed.

The audi was a sedan, your probably right in reguards to weight and smaller tires.

I am impressed with the suv's performance overall and looking forward to the first few mods.

Have you lowered your's, still have the hre's for sale?

thx, just dont want to ruin tires.
they are not directional but there IS an inside and out.
For the person saying they arent impressed with them might I ask what wheel siZe and tire specs you mounted because I have 255-55-18 and they are fantastic.
I was considering 235-65-18 but knew I would be dry pavement driving as well.

I think these tires wheel size I have perform perfectly in 1 to 10 inches of snow with ice from experience.
