Possible new owner... Opinions on price? 2005 Cayenne Turbo

Hello,

I currently drive a 2005 Infinti FX45 for which I have had for a year now. I usually keep my cars for a year then move on to something new. I found a white/beige 2005 Cayenne Turbo with 33k miles for sale by a private owner. It has full wood package "steering wheel, console, shifter, dash etc", sat radio, factory 19" or 20" wheels and a set of aftermarket 22" wheels. The warranty is up in January of 2009 and it literally just had the 40k service done. The warranty doesn't really bother me since I only put about 5,000-6,000 miles a year on my daily drivers and keep them for only a year.

Also, the aftermarket wheel size seemed kind of weird to me. They are 22x10.5 with 265/35/22 tires. He said that he had to get a smaller size tire so that they would not rub and be able to clear everything. Aren't 265's on a 10.5" wheel really stretching it, especially for a turbo Cayenne or will these be fine for summer?

Any opinion on what this Cayenne is worth in today's market? I have already checked out KBB, NADA and Edmunds but I have seen the prices for these cars all over the place. So its hard to say if I am getting a good deal or not.

You should be looking around 41-46k depending on the mileage and condition of the vehicle. If I were you, I'd go with an '06, with less miles. The difference is worth paying considering the warranty and being up to date..

The CTT is a beast compare to the FX, especially if you mod it. Yeah, the tire size does not sound right on the extra set, it should be 285/35/22.

Given the car just had service done, I would pay between $38 and 42K. What is the asking price?

That seems to be a very good price if the PPI checks out.

The market must be softer than I thought. That sounds like a pretty good deal.

Data Point

If this helps, I just picked up an '05 CTT, CPO with 38k miles. Very good condition with 20" technosport wheels and a few other options (though not many) from the dealer at $42k.

42k

Ive been looking as well. I have found 2005 TT between 39K-48K. It really depends on how well kept the car is. I looked at a garage queen with 22K miles on her. The guy was asking 45K and he was firm. The car was like new. I have seen cheaper ones but they havent look "new"

I think I paid way too much if these prices are true...and I got mine only 6 months ago for $62k...though it does have 22" TechArt wheels, front bumper and side skirts, steering wheel and gauges and the TechArt lowering module.

I paid $42k for a 2004 CTT with CPO and 39k miles on it in Houston. The paint is perfect on it.

Just an FYI 04-05 CTT's are selling at the manheim auction between 38-42K and they usually have some low mile ones, saw one run through with 17K miles which was an 06 for 45K. Auction cars are good and bad, for a used Porsche I'd want a CPO just for piece of mind. I decided against picking one up from the auction and bought a CPO. My car is literally perfect condition and I stole it from the dealer as far as I'm concerned especially when I walked in and they wanted 63K for the car. I got it close to manheim auction pricing, paid a tad more just for the CPO which was fine, now I have 100K or 2011 whichever comes first and I knew it was a good car where as at the auction you just kind of never know and no extended warranty.

Actually it's a great time to buy, IMO... Hence I just purchase one myself. The econ is dropping the prices yet gas prices are dropping.

Once everyone figures out that gas isn't a big deal as it was 6-months ago they'll think about purchasing this fine auto-suv.

I'd bet they'll stay where they are for a good year and even in two-three years they won't drop more than 25-30% of what you can purchase them for today.

if you sold a 08 Turbo today with 8,000 miles on it, since the 09's are out, the turbo would be at 62% residual value.

38% drop from what we paid 5 months ago.
That number is straight off the porsche residual numbers book at the dealership.

New here; recently got a CTT 05. $35K is a steal. Since I have bought, with all the market crap going on, they have been dropping steadily. In June there were 92 on EBAY, today 201!!!
Supply and demand at work
I paid $48 for '05 CTT 19K miles warranty until 12/09, 20K service done at my local dealer, immaculate; only issue is small dents on the center counsel- like the button on his dress shirts pressed into the top. But I would pay more for this beast! I think it is the best deal on any vehicle out there!
