How long should brake pads last on the Cayenne?

We had our Pepper in the shop and they said it needs pads. There's only around 20K miles on it. Seems kind of soon don't you think?

I think 40k miles for a pad and rotor change is pretty typical.

downshift more often.

I have seen as high as 30K, and as low as 15K.

I agree with most here.... I do think it has A-LOT to do with the way you drive.... I tend to have long life on my brakes and clutches since I was taught to drive by someone who really pushed the whole shifting issue instead of braking....

With a vehicle of this weight down-shifting isn't a bad idea as I usually try to when exiting the off-ramp.....

I was able to re-surface my brake rotors a week ago so you might ask if this is an option with new pads....

It's automatic so the car shifts itself. The whole tiptronic thing is kind of gimmicky and just not fun to drive in that mode. I'll just have to plan on pads more frequently. I'm kind of surprised that I got almost 30K miles out of my 996 pads (with 2 autox and 1.1 track days), especially considering how much more aggressively I drive the 996.

It's always better to prevent than to treat, so my advice is to change them before you see the dash warning.
