PCM3 Failure

Also if it keeps rebooting,, it usually does that when it loses or not sees a node on the bus, NAVTV can atest to that also. maybe it is losing communications. Does the sound go completely out when this happens?

Porsche just released a software update for the PCM 3.0 (for the new 2009 Carrera, Cayenne, Boxster, & Cayman models). The update will fix a few common "bugs" that have been found in the new system. Most of the fixes are only relevant if you have factory add-on modules, such as XM, Bluetooth, Navigation, or the iPod/Interface kit.
The latest PCM 3.0 update: Updates PCM 3.0 from V1.10 to V1.4
Here are the current "bugs" which are addressed:
The latest PCM 3.0 update: Updates PCM 3.0 from V1.10 to V1.4
Here are the current "bugs" which are addressed:
- "INFO" and "MAP" buttons do not function if "INFO" or "MAP" is used to leave an open route list.
- Incorrect display of remaining range when in "miles".
- FM audio is muted until source is changed to AM.
- When a saved preset station is selected, the wrong station is displayed.
- In "ASIA" coding, RDS does not function.
- Intermittent loss of XM radio.
- Display does not match with the selected source.
- iPhone: Audio playback does not restart after phone call.
- USB device not available until system restart.
- Only USA: Maps set to European styling (wrong highway colors, POI icons, etc.)
- Temporary disappearance of TMC (traffic) messages during a drive cycle.
- For Voice Control, the "closest gas stations" command results in a list of the closest hotels.
- Bluetooth disconnection with Nokia mobile phones.
- The first activation of any function of the steering column switches (i.e. turn signal) ends a current telephone call.
- The opposite party cannot be heard in the vehicle if a phone call is made immediately after system start-up.
- Pairing or connection with a mobile phone via Bluetooth is no longer possible, although it had previously functioned.

It seems like the last update may fix my bluetooth connection issue but there is no mention of reboot issue. (Finger crossed)

Just an update. The software update didn't help at all. The PCM was still rebooting every 10 minutes if the BT is connected. So the service advisor is ordering a new replacement unit.
BTW, according to him, iPhone is not supposed to work very well with the PCM and both Porsche and Apple is aware of it but the next iPhone OS update may fix it.

More on PCM
We have been upgraded to 1.4 version and still have issue with Apple 3G IPhone. I think it has do when the AT&T signal is weak or lost. However, the rebooting is absolutely random as best I can determine.
My dealer also claims I am the only one who has this issue. ha ha
A real crock for a 90K plus vehicle

Just an update. My dealer is not getting a new head unit as Porsche has changed its mind. (I found out by calling on the dealer to check on it, so much for customer service. )
However, after the software update on the PCM and with the new iPhone OS 3.0, my wife is now happy as the iPhone is now working "perfectly", even the address book is being sync'd into the PCM everytime correctly. (Fingers crossed) But my BlackBerry can still kill the PCM everytime so I am banned from her car now.
Hope this helps with anyone with a similar problem out there.

The problem you are having is due to the bluetooth/ipod kit. To fix it do the following:
Delete your phone and readd but allow the phone to sit and transfer all the contacts for at least 15 minutes and then go into the phone bluetooth options and make the PCM "trusted" and do not ask for connection.
Then with the bluetooth on do a hard reset of your ipod with it connected to the PCM.
You will never have the problem again.
Good luck.

Sorry, can you describe that again?
I too recently started having problems with my PCM3 and iPhone 3G connected through bluetooth. I have version 1.41 on my PCM3. What is really weird was when I first got the car back in January, everything worked perfectly. February everything worked perfectly. Then March, where I had 1 reboot in a drive 2 hours long. Then on my next drive, I got 3 reboots, and now I get it every 10 minutes or so.
I read this thread, and figured I should turn off the bluetooth of my iPhone and drive the car. No Reboots. Then as soon as I turned bluetooth on again, it rebooted within 10 minutes!
Any ideas on how to solve this? As far as I can see, it is a problem between Apple and PCM...to be honest, I have been a very happy Apple fan, and have never had problems with any of their products!
Can we start a list on the iPhone version and software version to see if there are similarities? For example:
iPhone 3G 16GB
Version 3.1.2 (7D11)
PCM3 1.41

I have the same issue with the PCM unit in my '06 CTTS, which has no bluetooth module, or phone module for that matter. Same runaround from the dealer, like no errors in the log.
However, recently it started rebooting often, sometimes twice in a row, and I'm taking it to the dealer today again.
