buyer beware Plaza Motor Porsche St Louis, MO
hey all,
I just purchased a CPO (or @ least what i believe it to be) 06 Cayenne Titanium ed from this dealer. Got the car last night, i live in PA btw. I know i should've done this before the fact, called Porsche NA to verify if CPO designation is valid, and they told me that it's not registered in their system yet as CPO.
Another member of this forum, wheeze, faces same issue. Per Wheeze, this dealer forgot to enter his/her car im the system. Wheeze was trying to figure out if this was an honest mistake or they are being dishonest. Two customers in a row, i think they are dishonest. Salesman hasnt return a call or my email regarding this issue.
I spoke with a salesman from a porsche dealer, amd he informed me that a car must be registered as Porsche certified/approved on the day of the delivery. So, its clear to me that this dealer sell cars and falsely advertise them as being Porsche CPO, before they are being approved by PNA
I hope to hear back from my salesman today, in the mean time, do you guys have any recommendations for me and wheeze?

I am in St. Louis, and gave up on Plaza a while ago
Their service is horrible! Three service reps will act like you are invisible, rather than wait on you- which is odd, since the Infiniti service at the same dealer is fantastic.
That being said, I don't think they are crooks up there. If you have evidence of the CPO advertisement, I suspect that they will honor it. As I recall, the CPO was a several thousand dollar deal- are you sure they didn't take that out as a "discount" from the price?
You need to stop calling the salesman and go to the manager! IF not, and you need local legal counsel, I am happy to try to assist or make a referral.
Sorry that happened to you. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Thanks sfarris. Legal action would be my last resort, but I certainly will contact u again if i need one
No they ad as cpo on autotrader n porsche.com. They even gave me the cpo inpection list signed by the technician. What prompted me to call PNA to verify due to the fact this list wasnt signed by two other required signees: service and preowned managers. This inspection doc states that "inspection is invalid without all required signatures"

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I got mine from Plaza Motors in AZ (from eBay) and the transaction was flawless. No CPO involved though. I'm sure it will all turn out fine!

Let me chime in here, you can see my issues in the other post that c1pinang had posted about his new (to him ) cayenne. I spoke with the salesman just now and he continues to state that it was an oversight and will be fixed today thru PCNA. All my paperwork and emails from them state to be "CPO" They will send out my missing windstop and are waiting on the key. So far the boxster is great, but these issues are very concerning. I continue to wait and think they are slow and sloppy, but an alternative hypothesis is they are dishonest. I would give this some more time to resolve but as i said to c1pinang, verify everything which i am glad he has done so far

I would first try to work it out with the dealer ,if that doesn't work out .I would park the car right in front of there dealer with a big old sign saying "I bought this lemon at Plaza Motor Porsche " I will guarantee they will work something out with you .I did this before on a new car and after three day ,I was able to get all my money back .Make sure you write all over the car window with shoe polish .

I also called PCNA today to file a complaint. I wasnt quite impress on their customer service. I asked if PCNA could do anything, but they were very hands off on this situation and tried to tell numerous times that this CPO issue is Plaza's responsibility. The customer specialist told me that Porsche dealers in the US are independently owned, and gave me an excuse that PCNA has no control over them. I argued how could you not controll them when they are selling your brand?????? She didnt really have an answer, and said that PCNA would proactively work on the issue.
Many of you here have probably already knew about the CPO process, but I just learned from PCNA that the dealers are the ones ultimately approving the CPO designation on their used P cars, assuming that they meet or pass PCNA's 100 point CPO inspection checklist. Once a car is deemed as CPO, the dealer would then enter its info into PCNA's system so that info could be shared nationwide. I talked to a salesman from a local P dealer, and he said that when selling a CPO, the car must already be registered as CPO in the system (PCNA's) on the day of the delivery. That said, I wonder if PCNA ever audit Plaza Motor on their CPO cars....
I thank you all for your useful comments!!!

Wheeze, I think you are spot on with your hypothesis that they are dishonest. Since I purchased this car online and wouldnt physically see the car myself, I repeatedly asked my salesman to take pictures of any imperfections, like paint chips, scratches. And of course he assured me that the car was "flawless", and I said how could this possible when this car already has 33k miles. Again he emailed (good thing i kept his email) me and wrote that there are no dings, chips nor scratches.
And guess what I found upon delivery of my car, chips & scratches on the front and rear bumper. I am a very reasonable person and dont really mind the minor chips on the front bumper being the car already has 30+k miles, but the paint blemishes on the rear bumper annoys me. There is about 5 inches worth of chips/scratches on it. All the salesman could in regard to this is sending me a touch-up paint, what a joke. I dont really care about the scratches as much as they are being dishonest to me. Now I wonder what sort of things (non visual) that they havent told me about. I think just to be on the safe side, I am gonna get this car inspected again at a local P dealer

Glad you heard back from them and hopefully this lesson will translate to the rest of us grabbing a CPO. I do feel compelled to comment though as I had a similar situation with a warranty where the dealer was dodging me and giving me a line of crap. As my time is worth more then screwing around with a dealer that I decided I would NEVER go back to, I called my lawyer. For $150 bucks he called the dealer, got the manager on the line and stated that his paralegal is drafting a letter of intent to sue which will be over-nighted to his attention. He stated that I had made numerous attempts to rectify the issue and out of desperation, decided to take legal action. He then stated that he understood that the manager may not know all of the customer issues at any given time and that he would hold off until the manager had time to check with the service manager. My lawyer had a call back in 15 min with an OK for me to bring the car in for repair. I did get the evil eye from the service manager, but i brought a starbucks for the manager and thanked him for handling it.
I was in the auto-biz for 10 years so i don't dispense this advice without care. I will say in this case it was effective, cheap, and in the end no one was bent out of shape besides the service mgr who seamed to have a perpetual bug up his bottom.
