Hello all, new 09 Cayenne S member here
Just wanted to say hello. Picked up a BLK/BLK 09 Cayenne S 2 weeks ago. I came from a X5 4.4 and recently a Range Rover Sport. Cayenne is a very different car compare to these 2, epecially the RRS. I certainly enjoy the drive but unfortunately it has been in and out of the shop for 8 days now in the past 2 weeks. The Xenon light controller went bad and they couldn't fix it for a few days. Also the aftermarket park assist never worked after the dealer installed it.
Other than that, I look forward to share my experiences and get those priceless insider tips from all of you!

glad to see you purchased one of the best SUV's to date.
Thought you might have went to the upgrade of a GTS from the x5, and RRS.
But I still think the S is still a few levels above both.
had the opportunity to have each of them, and I think you made the right choice.
sorry it's in the shop when all i know you want to be doing is driving it as if you stole it.

I will start from looks, I get alot more attention and compliments from the RRS, starting from day 1 til when i got rid of the car. People seem puzzled why I "downgraded" to a Cayenne. Which is obviously false.
I think the side profile of the RRS is more muscular than the CS, back view the CS is alot more aggrssive and front is a tie.
The RRS was dead reliable, not one issue in 3 years. Maint was free and it comes with concierge service.
The RRS felt stiffer on the road, i had the standard 19's. But i was never confident driving it at high speed. CS has more bodyroll (i dont have air suspension,or any of the handling package) but handles alot better.
CS sounds better, even compared to my RRS with borla exhausts. Feels faster but not a car that has close to 400 hp, and alot lighter than the RRS. But again i only have 200 miles on the odometer.
The sitting position is very different, in the RRS you feel like the king of the road, the CS is more like a car in comparison.
I was not a big fan of the RRS interior, but have to say its more modern than the CS, quality of the material in CS is much better. Everything felt hallow in the RRS.
Nav in the RRS is slower but more accurate than the PCM3.
Overall I think I made the right choice. Though the 2010 RRS with 510 hp and new interior will give the similarly price S a run for the money.

The 4.8 was an awesome looking suv, i had the full 4.8 body kit, rims and remus exhaust on my 4.4. Have a friend who has a CTT and a Turbo Coupe. Both are insanely fun cars, great combo.

Have a few newbie questions:
1.The dealer said the clear side markers will take 2 hours to install, since they have to take the bumper off, is this true? I have the blacked out trim, so think the clear will look great.
2. Im thinking about the FABspeed Bypass pipe. The S stock sounds pretty good under hard acceleration. Will the pipes make it sound less " sophisticated" I dont want to change the muffler, but would like higher decible without sounding like a souped up american v8.( not there is anything wrong with that, but i like the unique sound from the porsche v8)
3. Whats the ideal position to hardwire the V1?
Thanks!

Wow, 2 hours to replace clears... doesn't sound right to me.. I'm receiving my Cayenne S in few weeks and will also be looking into replacing side markers.

I'll do my best to answer your question.
#1 yes on my GTS I was quoted 2 hours change time to clear. I did it myself, enjoyed it more and didn't have to pay 2 hours of labor.
On my GTS you have to remove the fender liner and it's best to remove the wheels but not necessary, just easier.
#2 the fab speed will be an improvement.

very easy. Remove tires/ wheels. Not necessary but makes it easier.
You'll need a hex driver. Remove all pins under fender. Pull back front half of liner.
Pull out light and replace. Just snaps out and pops back. Make sure to replace bulbs to amber.
Be careful not to pull the window washer fluid tube on the front passenger when pulling back liner. Should take about 1-2 hours if yours not familiar.
