painting the bumper inserts?

I was wondering if any of you have painted the black plactic pieces in the front bumper. Our cayenne is bright silver and after 61K miles the black plastic is more like gray now. It comes back with armor all or tire dressing but still sorta looks bad.

I was wondering what you all thought of popping them out and having a body shop paint them jet black so they would be shinney like a regular black car. also what do you all use on the black plastic that hold the mirrors on, they are should there age too...

If you are going to paint them, why not paint them in body color like the factory did starting with MY05.

looks good
they charge a ridiculous amount to get this option OEM. pretty simple to take out and get auto body shop to repaint

however probably prone to chipping

Get the plastic dip spray paint, it has been served BMW owners for good

Looks like the silver color isn't available though...

Interesting. I have an '06 Turbo S. All silver. The rear badging and the front grill are both silver. Originally I liked the monotone look. I've been thinking about adding some contrast by painting the front grill black. Hmmmm?

I like the silver car with silver painted grill - it still has the contrast because you see black through the openings

I think the silver Cayenne looks good with those inserts in silver ... was thinking the same thing for mine.

Check out these Cayenne S Billet Grills - aluminum inserts that bolt over factory setup for about 1/2 the price of Porsche's painted inserts. Was thinking these might do the trick: http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/expr1.html

Not sure how much someone would charge to paint the inserts.
