Help me decide ... 2009 Black or Silver GTS?
#16
I have a silver Cayenne and a Black M35. My cayenne always looks clean and my M always dirty. Black is amazing when clean but looks like hell the remaining 95% of the time. I was a slave to a black car for 3 years and loathed washing it as I always found some new scratch somewhere. My M is my wifes so I don't cry as frequently as that goes to the hand wash. The GTS is real aggressive looking so outside of tan, anything looks good on it.

I just replaced my Black on Terracotta BMW X3 for a Silver on Black Cayenne. I have to admit, I miss the color of my old car. Especially on the Cayenne, the Black exterior allows all the little exterior details (door handles, exhaust, etc.) to stand out so much more. Nevertheless, I love not feeling the need to wash my Cayenne every two days.

I'm jumping into this thing. Test drove one on Sunday and fell head over heels. Can't afford the Turbo but the GTS is pretty nice with plenty of power.
There was a black one in the showroom that was so gorgeous I couldn't believe it. I just wanted it. I was ready to do anything.
Then I started thinking about the fact that I don't have a garage and I live in area where it rains a lot and in the winter we get our roads salted quite a bit ...
I figured the silver was really nice, not nearly as drop-dead good looking, but more practical.
I'm 80% leaning towards the silver. Am I making a mistake or the right decision?

You could afford the turbo . . . 2006 Turbo S with CPO would be much cheaper than a new GTS. I know because I just bought one 6 days ago.
You said silver was "nice" and "practical" . . . that is a Toyota Highlander. The Black is drop-dead good looking . . . that was the right answer.
Sorry, but your original message tells me you will still long for the black one.

I own Silver ... but I always think the darker colors look nicer.
Silver easier to live with (cleaning) ... and I've always thought that silver or white blend in a bit better far up the highway if someone happens to be watching or pacing

I'm very happy with the silver I got. Sure black is gorgeous when it's clean, but it has been raining almost every day and pollen is crazy right now and I like the fact that I am not always worrying about washing it clean.
Maybe I'll have a black 911 some day. LOL
