Cayenne roof rails -- won't fit 2009 Cayenne
I recently purchased the matte black roof rails for my 2009 Cayenne through a board sponsor.
I understand that there is a left rail and a right rail, and that they have to be facing the correct position. I'm also aware that the hardware pieces that hold the rail onto the roof of the vehicle are designated for a certain side of the vehicle.
I just can't seem to get the hardware pieces to align with the roof rails properly. I have tried every possible combination that I could think of. I even turned the roof rails backwards to see if Porsche maybe installed the strips on the roof incorrectly and turns out that wasn't the case.
Does anyone know if Porsche changed the placement of the holes in the bottom of the roof rails for the newer Cayennes (implying that I received a set for the pre facelift version)? I would take pictures for you guys but you honestly wouldn't be able to see much due to the depth of view.
For what its worth, I don't consider myself mechanically challenged . Any and all help with this matter is greatly appreciated as it is really getting on my nerves right about now.

I took the alum roof rails off my 04 CS and put onto my 08 CTT without any problem. I doubt that Porsche will bother spending any time and money to re-design the roof rails attachment.
BTW I purchase a new set of same rails to put on my Dad's 08 CTT, and I found that the alignment is slightly off. I basically needed to climb up to the roof and kneeled onto the rails to be able to put those screws in.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate the help!
CPA4S: I understand that the brackets can slide in the runner, but there is only six places that the bracket can actually lock into on each side if you know what I mean. You had all six of the brackets actually "snap" into one of the holes on the runners before placing the rails on top and putting the screws in right?

One more thought... you don't have the pano roof do you? The roof rails are not compatible with the panoramic roof.

if i rememebr there were a number of spots where the brackets woudl click into place - i think i had to eyeball the right click but it was not hard.
i think i remember that the screws for the back holes were more of a make them get in there and fit option

roof rails
did you ever get your rails on?? I just had a nightmare with a set myself that I bought from a guy used and I think they were aftermarkets that were made to work with a Touraeg and I could not get the racks to align with the three attachment piecs when the pieces were in the correct position to "lock" in like they were suppose to. I took them back to the guy and he insisted they were on his. I could have probably FORCED them on but they were a good two to three inches off. I just didn't want to force them. I am probably goig to buy a set of the aftermarkets off eBay once I GRILLE the people selling them. You can get them for about $400 plus 50 shipping. Hope that helps.
