Cayenne S "real world" gas mileage
Hey everyone, I'm currently in the market for an 06 Cayenne or Cayenne S. I go back and forth about whether its worth the bigger engine versus the V6 and better gas mileage. I've read many of the reviews and the alleged gas mileage figures for the 06 CTS. Most of them report 12-17mpg, but I spoke to an owner of Titanium edition 06 V8 and she said that she gets about 10mpg in her domain. (city of Chicago) Does this seem about right because that really made the V8 look so much less attractive? Any comments would be helpful.

I also drive a 2006 Titanium Edition and it depends on where and how you drive you Cayenne determines your gas mileage... around town I would say between 10-12mpg... on the highway like when I drive NYC to Canada or NYC to MD, I can estimate a range of 18+ one time I averaged out 22mpg using distance vs what I topped the tank back too (avg speed 70-75mph four adults + luggage tire pressure at 42 frnt, 50 rear and auto A/C set at 70...)... I change my oil every 5-7.5K and I have near 50K on the clock.... If I only decide to rocket out of the toll booths it would be less... but I got my 2006 when gas was at $4+ near $5 a gallon so I learned to behave... when gas is $2+ it gets used trust me I wake all 340 ponies to a gallop.. and then avg about 8-10...

in my 2005 TT im getting 18 in the city, and around 22/24 on the motorway (@80mph)
get your car re-mapped it will boost your mpg figures.
its a good job your petrol is so cheap.
my old cayenne S was worse on fuel than the TT (unless you rag it)
my friends cayenne V6 is worse on fuel because its a lot of weight to shift.
last month we went to germany for a shopping trip, and coming back through holland we filled up to the brim at a motorway service station, and on leaving the service station slip road (to join the motorway) we saw a UK registered BMW M6 so i put my foot down and got behind him...the guy went for it and reached his 155 limiter , i overtook him to his great supprise, and held 165 ish for only 5 miles, where there was another fuel stop saying last one before the channel tunnel, so i thought id fill up again just to see how much fuel id used going 165 for 5 miles....it took 26 euros, thats 5 gallons so she was doing 1 mile to the gallon, (oh how we laughed....not.)
drove like a ***** the rest of the way home.

My wife is pretty much stop and go and only drives our Cayenne V6 about 6k/year and gets 15-18mpg. If we do a road trips, 21-22 is typical with AC set at 72 and 2 adults/1 baby. For as much as my wife and I drive it, I wish it were an S or TT because I fill it up only once a month and would much rather have the power.

Petrol here in the states can fluctuate between $2.50 for your equivalent of 5star to $4.50 a gallon and that's just in the North East... The price of Petrol was one of the factors of why I never returned home to live in Richmond, London UK... when I visit I either drive the most frugal compact or bring out the 86 2CV... I don't touch my 88 Sierra Stage III Cossie... I let my brother use it for me... the 2quid a litre on principal won't let me drive... I keep saying when the US hits $5.00 plus a gallon I will return home...

I saw it in 89 it was one of my brothers mates third toy... financial times hit him in 91 and I swiped it off his hands in 92 and could not get it brought over here and DOT'd for me for any reasonable fee's... I drive it only when I go across the water... and like my last two trips I didn't even wash it and wax it like I normally would... he usues it as his flash collecters and I have told him to keep it since he does the MOT and such on it for the last 17 years... I think it only has maybe 35K klm on it...
