Shipping 08 GTS Back to the U.S.

Approximately 10 months ago, after consulting with many people and doing my research, I traded in 2 beautiful cars for a slightly used 2008 GTS in Meteor Gray. I then had this car shipped to Central America, where I currently live, and I have been trying to legalize the car ever since, with no success. A long story. Therefore my question is this - If I decide to ship the car back to the U.S. and potentially sell her, what is the best market and geographic location to accomplish this - Any thoughts would be appreciated. Currently the GTS has approximately 8,800 miles. Thanks.

i cant answer your questions but im sure a knowledgeable person from the USA will be along shortly.
but im intreaged, do you mean you cant register the car because it came from the USA or is there no type approval where you live?
surely there must be a porsche dealer that could help? i presume you have all the paperwork?

good luck anyway.

I have been mislead, lied to, deceived, etc.. I was advised by the shipping broker, before I purchased this GTS, that he could exonerate all taxes and custom charges on the importation of this vehicle, with the exception of a 5% tax for something that I can not recall. This was based on my Residency application being approved in this country. It was approved!

To make a long story short, now I am being told that I need to pay in excess of $20,000 to make this vehicle legal here. The Porsche dealer here is in bed with the Customs authorities because they want individuals to purchase cars from them and not bring them from the U.S. Also, the dealer does not want to provide any service until the car is legal. All my papers were in order.
