Cayenne in for Major Service - Problems!

Guys

My Cayenne went into a Porsche Independant Specialist yesterday for a scheduled major service and to repair a broken turbo breather pipe. Costs were;

£483 - Major Service
£397 - Repair broken turbo breather pipe

I just got a call from them to say they found some more jobs wanting doing;

£184 - Front brake pads (approx 1000 miles left in them)
£334 - Large Coolant pipe under Inlet manifold wants replacing (leaking coolant).
£189 - Driver side airbox broken and badly glued together.

Seems the turbo breather pipe was damaged when the three branch coolant pipes were replaced to aluminium items due to large coolant leak. The larger coolant pipe was not replaced unfortunately.

This is why you should not take your Cayenne to just any back street garage, job ends up costing you more in the long run.

This is the first time I have taken the Cayenne in for some work since ownership back in May, so was prepared for any additional work.

You CT should be running like new when it is all done. Considering you just bought it, it could have been a lot worse.

To be fair, I think the following happened to the vehicle;

Vehicle breaks down due to coolant leak, steam would have been everywhere. Vehicle is towed to garage by recovery. Garage offers to 'repair' vehicle. Garage only replace the faulty smaller three-branched coolant pipe.

During process of 'repair', garage damage the turbo breather pipe and airbox (Porsche are specialised cars and not a Ford).

I do not think the previous owner was aware of the damage as it was disguised.

The vehicle is currently with Sports and Classic in Cheshire being serviced and repaired. I have to say that it is a nice setup and they really do know their way around Cayennes.

I get paid by the hour and cannot afford to take time off to find a cheap second hand airbox etc to save a bit, for me it would be false economy.
