Shipping car to Germany

Turning 30 next year!!! And am planning a big trip to Germany for a month. Want to ship my own car over, drive the Nurburgring, see the Porsche factory... Has anyone done this before? Ideas or suggestions? I've heard horror stories about people who have shipped their cars overseas - any recommendations for good companies and contacts? Thanks.

Just rent a Porsche when over there, the rental companies usually rent out benz's, BMW's and even Porsche's!!!

I looked into this but with a truck which I wanted to use to move my race team around...allot of paperwork involved. You would have to ship it in a container, then when arriving in Hamburg you would have to clear customs, then hand over your plates and get a temp. set ect. ect. ect.

Renting would be allot easier.

Good luck

If you decide to take you car to Germany, you can also get some teporarely plates.

In germany if you for instance buy a car that's no longer insured etc, you can get some short-term licence plates to drive it from A to B. The car is fully insured etc. It costs about 100,- euro for a week.

I live in Holland but near Germany, check out this website: http://www.ajv.de/en/ maybe they can give you more info.

What kind of car would you like to bring over there?

Nurnburg ring is nice BTW, been there once.

If you ship on a roll on rool off ship look to spend about $1000 each way. NOT RECOMMENDED! If you ship with a container look at about $5000 round trip. If you are still interested PM me. I have the company info for the company that ships the Porsche and MB museum cars.
