Problem with emergency/hand brake...
I have an 06 Cayenne S and a few months ago I noticed that the emergency/hand brake light would not turn off after I pull on the hand brake release. I would then have to engage the emergency brake with the foot and disengage several times through the hand brake release until the light decides to turn off randomly... anyone else has this problem?
Gonna have it fixed at the dealer during my next service... was wondering if this stupid thing will cost me an arm and a leg since my car is out of warranty.
Thanks.

I spoke to my service manager 2 wks ago about known issues for the '04 - '06 models and this is one that he mentioned. Depending on your relationship with your service manager, this should be covered.

It is a very very common problem among the Cayennes that Neil mentioned. If you release the brake, and the warning light is still on, you can tap it upward with your foot and the light should go off...not a fix, but it'll get you going until you can address the issue.

Yes it is. There was a time when it was not, but has since been updated to be a serviceable item.

You wouldn't happen to have the part number, would you?

No problem. Very simple to replace as well, using a screwdriver, just release the spring lock clips on the old shock and pop it off, and the new one will clip right on. I usually clip the top portion on first, then you can adjust the pedal portion until it snaps on as well.

I just dropped mine off for warranty repair today for the same issue. Also having the passenger side window switch surround replaced for peeling.
I also mentioned that the suspension was clunky in parking lots and over bumps. I know the PDCC make some noise, they called back and are actually replacing the PDCC control module. Crazy...
