Anyone shut off PSM?

What are your experiences?

All too often, I go for an expected slide on the ice & snow and that jarring PSM intervention rudely distrurbs my planned drift.

If I shut off the PSM will it kick in if & when the SUV gets really off track?

no it wouldn't, but you can always try first on safe places and after you have managed to master car, then go to road without PSM

Thanks, that is exactly the info I was seeking. I believe in other models, the Cayman for instance, that PSM kicks back on if it detects something really wild going down.

Yes I turn it off regularly, but no snow or ice here.

I don't quite believe that turning it off completely disables it. There is virtually no other modern P-car (except maybe a GT3) that will leave you completely naked by turning PSM off. Each model seems to have different thresholds, but they all kick in at some point.

Well, that's what I have been trying to determine--is there a threshold on the Cayenne that will re-engage PSM?

We are seeing more pavement here and it's been so warm, I am thinking of changing to my summer AT tires. Those can handle another snowfall while my 20" Diamaris can't but they are so tempting.

I got stuck in the rain and mud one time. Could not get out because PSM would not allow the tires to move. I pushed the PSM to turn it off. I got out. Boy did I get out. First off, it was a Turbo S. 2009. Ever seen drag boat races and the rooster tail of water behind em? This is what happens to the mud. Everyone had better get the hell out of the way too.
