Darth Vader has arrived! ....Techart Magnum

Got delivery of the TA Magnum last night. Couldn't be happier with the car. Special thanks to Exclusive Motor Cars... Rob Leighton and Armando especially and also to 6speed member JOONY for the post and heads up on the ride. Enjoy the pics from my crappy I-phone...

Don't know.. haven't run them yet. But my butt dyno says my wifes car with a Protomotive tune, EVO Intake, 2nd cat Bypass, and exhaust is a bit quicker....

The Magnum has a exhaust but that's it. (power wise) Going to add the 2nd cat bypass, Evo intake, tune and maybe the RSS Plenum down the line....

Why doesn't anyone add the cayenne turbo "s" intercoolers with a tune. The only difference from a "hardware" perspective are the S intercoolers. The increased flow and efficiency let you increase boost safely by 4.3 psi. (this equals going from 450hp to 521hp on the 955's). Add protomotive tuning or such and a downpipe and you'd be at 550-560hp all for $4500 or so.

Who could get a group buy on the turbo S intercoolers going?

I would be in for a GB for sure. Are there any tuners/companies that make aftermarket Cayenne intercoolers? It would be very sweet to get a set with aluminum end tanks and 5" cores

What is the price for "Turbo S" intercoolers?

Discount porsche dealers offer them around $1080 ea. Plus you need $800 of ducting to match up properly. Install was remarkably cheap at $450.

One company (don't remember which) tweaks the S intercoolers a bit for their 600+hp kits. After extensive research nobody makes aftermarket IC's. A 50% increase in flow from the stock turbo's is pretty impressive and based on that alone allows you to increase boost from 4.3 psi (450hp to 521hp). So I figure an aftermarket tune could take it a decent bit beyond.

I could ask my local dealership at what volume they would discount the IC's further. The price they quoted was $20 cheaper each than Suncoast quoted.

So it looks like roughly $2200 to upgrade to the CTTS intercoolers... I believe I can have custom made ones with better designed end tanks for around that amount and they will have thicker cores too. But then again there is probably no way around the $800 worth of ducting you will need..... so figure more or less $3000 for the upgraded intercoolers...?

Maybe. Don't know how much thicker the space can fit, plus you have to deal with making the ducting fit flush/etc. Letting the air bleed out the sides offsets the benefits of the thicker IC's - I'm thinkin.

Here is the exact email response.

"We checked with parts and the intercooler ducting is different. The ducts that go from the bumper and clip to the front of the intercooler, and there are different ducts that clip on the backside of the intercoolers to the rear air outlets in the fender well. It adds another $900 in parts. Labor to install the intercoolers and ducts would be $427.35. So the total I come to is $3679.18. "
