Do you leave off any of the 9500ci's components?
9500ci display at the top, LI alert LED off to the side!

This mirror still auto dims but it is an Audi mirror, the Porsche auto-dimming mirrors are not as ameanable to modification, older ones may work but the latest ones are contructed differently and the etching causes the display to blister.

This is a Cayenne manual dimming mirror with V1 integration, the same can be done with the 9500ci / LI:

This is a 997 manual dimming mirror with the 9500ci display integrated but when it is off you still see a dark rectangle in the glass:

You could in theory swap to another make of mirror to achieve auto-dimming and the display but then the mount becomes an issue and coming up with some way to swap the mounting bracket.

Does the mirror in your Cayenne mount to the overhead area with a wide triangular shaped mount or to a button on the windshield? I just checked and the Audi mirror shares the same mount as some of the Porsche mirrors, i.e. the ones that mount to the windshield. With a little re-wiring the Audi mirror could fit a Porsche that uses a button mount.

I think i found the place that makes these! They have a lot of options. And the prices seem reasonable. www.stealthmirror.com

UKChris - The one with the 9500 and LI is the best. Can i ask whom you got it from?
Do you have it installed in your Cayenne?

The mirror pictured above is from an Audi RS4, the cayenne auto-dimming mirror does not allow modification in this way, for a Cayenne the options would be etching the glass to allow them to show through, replacing the glass with a two-way mirror or attempting to retro-fit another brand of mirror. The Audi mirrors have the same mount as some Porsche models but I think the Cayenne mounts in to the overhead console rather than to a button on the windshield.

I wonder if the ball joint on the Cayenne and Audi are the same size, if so maybe the mount could be swapped. To make an Audi mirror work all you need are a couple of wires, one to ignition and one to ground.

Hi everyone,
can someone please explain to me why it is beneficial to have both a laser shifter and the laser interceptor? Why would you benefit from both when they in effect have the same function? I cannot understand why you would want to spend all that money on the 9500ci as well as LI. Maybe I am missing something but please enlighten me.
I have the V1 and LI combo to come. All of the reviews I have read independently show a lot of punch thru with the shifter and the LI performing significantly better.
Why not get the escort 9500 with the LI if in fact you want the escort Radar detector?
I am by no means an expert so I am asking not to be antagonistic in any way.
The V1 is nothing short of spectacular in my opinion. It has exceeded my expectations thus far.

I think people buy the combo as they want the stealth install of the 9500ci and what seems to be considered best of breed laser technology with the LI, yes you have some redundancy but a lot of people are putting these in cars that cost 50 times what they are spending on counter measures, I guess it's all relative.

I think it'd be really interesting to do a dual-V1 install one day and see how hard it is to wire both in to one concealed display, in theory you could combine two displays wo commong LEDs for alerts then mount a V1 units front and rear.

What would the benefit of this be?

I've worked with several people who needed/wanted to hide the V1 completely out of sight and opted to mount it behind the front grill in a sealed box sacrificing rear detection. You could in theory have one behind the front grill and another in the rear such that you get what is considered the best radar detection going front and back in a completely stealth install.

In my opinion the big attraction of the 9500ci is that it is a remote install with all the detector/shifter hardware beind mounted in the front and rear vents, the only things in the cabin are the control an display units.
