Porsche Baby Cayenne to be named "Porsche Cajun"

(rendering)

It’s no secret anymore that Porsche is preparing a new small SUV which will be based on the Volkswagen Tiguan or the Audi Q5. What`s new is that the new so-called baby-Cayenne might be named Cajun. These words came from VW CEO Martin Winterkorn in an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, who also added that the new small SUV will be introduced in order to boost Porsche sales. Furthermore, Porsche could also introduce a new small sports car, based on the Volkswagen BlueSport Concept, introduced back in 2009 at the Detroit Auto Show. Apparently, the German brand is considering expanding its lineup in order to double sales in the medium term to 150,000 cars and SUVs.

I likey! I'd take it! While I love the Cayenne, I prefer something smaller just because I'm more comfortable driving smaller cars. This one is for meeeeeee! I want one!

I like the way it looks......as shown above. I don't like the name though. Goes hand in hand with "Pepper" though. As the Cayenne is fondly called Peppa Pig, hope it won't be a Cajun Pig.

Looking forward to it. I really like the size of the Q5 so I'm sure to like this. I hope they shoehorn the V8 into it ;-)

Are there any indications as to when it will be released?

I like the front end, everything else ehhhh it needs to grow on me. It looks FWD with that stance, sort of like a Toyota highlander.

Why? Is Porsche going after BMW and offering a niche vehicle for every market segment?

Also, if it competes with all the Audi vehicles as part of the VW group, I'm not really sure what the point of this is. Cayenne isn't that much bigger than Q5.

This would dilute the brand and potentially makes it less valuable.
