Really poor styling. What a shame. It seems like Porsche is trying to be BMW or Mercedes by increasing their line of products. You can hardly fault a company for trying to grow and capture more market share. However, I cant help but to think that with the Cayenne, it reduced Porsche to the soccer mom level. Another low cost addition to the product line will of course detract more from the exclusivity of the Porsche brand. For me part of the appeal of Porsche was just that, its exclusivity. After the myriads of boxters and the ubiquitous Cayenne, Ferrari and Lambo is looking a whole lot better.

It should be an awesome car and give LOTS of things a run for their money on the track, if the weight is kept in check.
Ah, the 911 hubris. Porsche does try hard to keep from deflating so many inflated automotive egos.

This will be awesome, and will sell really well, I bet. 300hp on a lightweight mid-engine hardtop boxster, more rigid than any Boxster ever was, with more power - sweet...
The name sounds lame now, but will eventually just blend in with the rest of the odd names for cars out there. I'm excited Porsche is doing this and hope that the rumored track version is released, a la GT3 mid-engine...

Guys, relax. This is not aimed at 911 owners.
And it will look SIMILAR to the spy shots, but is a full hatchback, and has softer, cleaner lines than this one shows.
They will win big time when newbies arrive looking for something above the Boxster S, but below the 997. And maybe they'll funnel all those greenbacks into racing finally.

I love mid-engined cars... looking forward to trying it out. I think this car will be a great addition for car-enthusiasts in general... at least one that is not carried away by image, elitest attitudes, mine's-more-expensive-than-yours-attitude, etc.
A car has the potential to be a great "driver's car" at any price point. It all comes down to a person's driving experience and interaction with the car, road, engine, handling, etc. People who discount cars because they are of a lower price catagory are pathetically closed-minded.
