Key Difficult To Remove ?

Hello All;
My key won't come out of the ignition. Its in Park (even says so in dash) AND foot on Brake.

I have to remove the little panel and push that little button to get it out.

Thoughts ?

I think this problem plagues 996s also. It usually means the ignition switch is dying.

The ignition switch is very different design. This problem can be caused by three things off the top of my head usually.

1. Low battery voltage. If the battery gets close to dead, or dies completely, the ignition lock won't release the key.
2. Faulty microswitch in the shift console - 95561304300 Click Here for more information.
3. If there are other transmission problems present, it could be a bad transmission control unit or harness.
