CPO Warranty or Third-Party Warranty--HELP!

I’m buying a 08 Cayenne S with over 25K miles and remainder of the factory warranty but it’s not certified. The factory warranty will end in about a year from now. The dealer is asking for $2500 to add two years or up to 100K extended warranty whichever comes first. Do you think it’s worth buying the CPO warranty or should I just get a third-party warranty? Is $2500 too high for a CPO warranty?

i'm currently shopping for an extended/3rd party warranty myself.. arrgh.. the price of having a peace of mind.. if i were you, that's cheap, given that it's from porsche.. so far, 3rd party companies "force" you to pay up front - downpayment - to lock you to the deal and then you pay monthly from 12 to 24 months depending your financial plan (i think it's 0%).. prices ranges from $3,800 to $4,500 for my 06 CTT-S .. i found some companies not covering twin-turbo cars..

or.. since you still have a year to decide.. have a "feel" on your car.. if you think that you wouldn't have any major problems coming up, save the money (that's most of the people have suggested).. regular/preventive maintenance is the best way to go.. good luck

they call it the "new car coverage" pretty much everything except for the wear-and-tear items and excludes the regular maintenance (oil change, spark plugs, tires, etc).. what they asked is that i should have documents for regular maintenance done from the start (of my) ownership so there's no hassle with regards to proving that the car is well maintained... as said, not all groups/companies wanted to do warranty on the twin-turbo

i may take that deal since so far, that's the lowest price for that coverage.. also includes road-side assistance, car rental and towing.

and your car may even be lower (i think), since it's a newer model car and not a turbo.. i think the best way to get a cheaper deal is that don't try to agree on their quote right away even though you know it's already cheap.. the initial quote i got was 4,995 and I was able to get it down to $2,940 (+$100 since it's a twin-turbo).. they wanted me to pay the initial deposit right away (on the $4995 deal), told them i am shopping and have found another cheaper company, they called me back 3x.. now i'm just looking at some other things, i will call them later.. if you need the number and sales rep i can give you their number

I just picked up an 04 CTT. I have a quote for $2945 for 2 years/unlimited miles for an exclusionary policy that includes wear & tear, seals and gaskets from Warranties 4 Wheels. I've been shopping, like you, as the CPO warranty will be up at the end of November. From what I've read, you want an exclusionary policy. W4W has an A+ rating from BBB, and the coverage. I asked lots of questions, and got, in writing, that if the coolant seals go bad, it's covered. If the plastic tubes break, its not. The local Porsche and Independant dealers take W4W's so I will likely go with them. As a note, none of the other companies would provide the policy in writing, with answers to my questions, such as the coolant tubes.
