275/40/20 vs 295/40/20

275/40/20 vs 295/40/20
I found a fantastic deal on a set of Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice tires, but they are 295/40/20.
I was about to mount a set of 275/40/20.
The way I understand it, is the 295, is the width of the tire, so larger contact patch (and for snow, not ideal). But the 40 profile will give me a bit more height in the sidewall which wouldnt be bad for snow.
Am I nuts to consider the 295s?

Doesn't look like much of a difference but it would be significant, depending on your snowfall etc. It's always better to have a narrower tire IMO but If the price is that good and you think this won't be an issue than I would say go for it.
