PTV or PDCC

But glad to see the new gen cayenne so much improved in almost every way.
I noticed there is now an "auto" headlight feature which prior gen did not have - in fact, the owners manual actually explains it away by saying they want the driver to have control ... must have changed their mind when they did redesign :-)

youtube on PTV
There is a youtube video by Autospies that takes an "S" to the test track where the pro driver talks about the PTV and it's effects. The video runs a little over 18 minutes. As I recall, that portion is about 9 minutes in. Hope that may help.

Everyone here in the forum are convinced that PDCC and PTV are very good options to have. It's just a matter of how much one wants to spend when building their Cayenne. It is very easy to go bankrupt clicking every single performance upgrade, safety feature and eye candy option. It really is hard to argue against PDCC/PTV, full natural leather, Burmester, Pana roof, noise insul glass, ACC etc and walla you have a 40K price tag for that. Not that any of us have loose cash lying around but if money spent on a vehicle is a concern have a budget in mind and stick to it. There will always be that Cayenne that may be better optioned than yours. But that does not mean yours is not a good one. Do whatever floats your boat and try not to be convinced by others to go for every single option. If uou ask me the PDCC and PTV are must have options but thats what is the beauty of custom ordering: Order what you think is a must have option for you. For eg: All my friends have the turbo versions of the cars I own ie. 930, 997.2 PDK turbo and CTT. Not once have I felt inadequate, insecure, or unhappy with my babies in their presence.

I'm not putting ACC or LCA on mine because I'm going with a K40 laser jammer and radar detector integrated system but I don't think ACC belongs on a Porsche vehicle either.
Oh, the heated windshield? My demo had it, its like looking through a screen door, once you are aware of it, forget it .. AND, at night, halos and distortions around everything. I took my wife out at night in it and she was saying, "whats wrong with the windshield?"

I disagree with some of that ... things like the noise insulating glass on anything with a Porsche crest on it is pretty silly, I mean, isn't part of the Porsche experience the feel of the drive, the visceral experience? Thats an option that belongs on a LEXUS in my opinion.

I got ya ... Porsche does offer an incredible array of options to choose from to personalize your vehicle to your individual taste and budget. For me, anything that detaches me from the road is more of a negative. Don't have to drive too fast to enjoy the car BUT you are not going to truly appreciate the enhanced handling dynamics the sport package offers until you push it, at least a little
I take it easy with wife and kids in the car....
My build will optimize sport with the sport package and PCCB's - thats the plan
turbos (especially) never impressed me with their exhaust note ... fortunately, I have an F430 to take car of that "need" LOL - just point me in the direction of the nearest tunnel.......

Absolutely and they are all quite tempting. I am however now really worried about the heated windshield that I spec'd. You owe me big time as I don't think I will sleep well tonight

Sorry about that. While sitting in the demo, the salesman pointed it out. There are hundreds (at least) of tiny zig zagging vertical lines in the glass. Once your eye gets drawn to them, you notice them. I had the car all day sat/sun and half of Monday. I forgot about the lines until we were driving at night and wife and I noticed the distortions and halos - I realized it was the damn lines in the windshield.

My RR has a heated windshield and the lines don't bother me at all. Maybe Porsche did a poor implementation? Its great feature though not one you couldnt live without. Plus on the RR it's standard

Folks: the heated windscreen is a HUGE distraction - seriously - had it in the RRSC I just unloaded and hated it again on a C-S that I test drove before ordering mine WITHOUT it. You WILL notice it and its annoying as hell.
As to the options discussion above - we've gone well past the original topic but with good reason - get everything you like and none of what you don't. To each his own w/ a reason for each - here's my build b/c I live in the mtns so I ordered Cayenne S (Umber w/ Black interior) w/ the following:
1. pdcc an ptv plus to maximize traction in poor conditions (the P website does a great job explaining this) and eliminate any roll as I drive up/down a curvy interstate,
2. roof transport so I can put a cargo box on and haul skis, etc up top
3. hitch so I can put my bike rack out back (can't add it later, so order it now or suffer having the clamps go under your weather seal on the door later)
4. heated steering wheel b/c it gets cold up here and I hate driving w/ gloves
5. Burmester audio b/c I like it
6. Premium Pkg Plus b/c the options in the pkg are great and make me happy (and make me feel safer)
7. Therm/Noise Insul glass b/c I hate wind noise as talk on the phone while driving so I find it more quiet to do so (plus it keeps the noise down from my Thule Boxter 611 roof box, which despite its aerodynamics, still makes noise)
8. 4 Zone climate b/c when we go on road trips I'm tired of hearing "its too hot/cold back here"
9. Rear air bags b/c I want additional safety for my kids
10. Voice control b/c I dig that kind of thing
11. 19" wheels b/c I like the ride better (although its a bummer to have limited snow tire options b/c of that)
Does the above cost more? you bet - my dealer said its among the most spec'd out they've done. Am I happy w/ everything I chose? you bet - including the absence of the park and drive key thing (read a few forums where the plastic breaks and you have to tow the car - my luck would have that happen on a cold day far from a dealer!) and the heated windscreen (see my comments above) . I'm adding an aftermarket Viper remote start which is all I really care about plus a hidden Escort radar.
My car rides like a dream and handles equally so. Go get yours the way you like and then look forward to driving it like I (and the others who are on this forum) do!

thanks - I'll be sure to make sure they can assure me that it can be done b/4 they start work - they are doing the Escort radar so its one trip for both.

It as interesting to read your comments about the Porsche entry and drive. I've used it for 26 months on a CTTS with no issues and find it to be the most convenient option on the entire vehicle.
I'm really curious about the remote starter you are installing. I have asked many German car dealers (VW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche and BMW) about a remote starter and always get the same answer...the electrical in these cars is too complex...don't do it...could be issues...warranty will be a problem, etc. Please tell us more about what you have found out.

I wish I had asked about the heated windscreen .. and it does not even snow that heavily where I live. What a big mistake. It never even thought about asking you guys on this option.
