Upgrading to Turbo S Intercoolers
#31
I gained 15whp by swapping from a top-mount to a front-mount with no tuning changes on my Subaru a while back. The thing is, the entire kit was like $700, so it wasn't that bad to do. I'm still leaning on meth for mine when I get around to it. But I'm curious to see results on larger front core replacements nonetheless if anyone does it.

Hey there PianoProdigy, I was searching the net for the same upgrade that you are currently doing on your CTT and i am interested in the same thing. Did you go ahead with that mod? also if you did, did it work well? were you planning to use the turbo S oem ecu and do the evo software upgrade for more hp/tq?
thanks for you reply

So do you think that the Turbo S Intercoolers with all those parts that you listed would fit on my 2004CCT? without doing any mods? I will be happy with the 521hp/530tq that comes standard on the CTTS so that i don't put too much abuse on the engine. Where did you get quoted for prices of all those parts? in CA i called the dealer and with my friends mechanic discount and it summed to $3200 including Tax. since CA $$ is stronger than US$ might be cheaper to get it from wherever you got your prices. I also have a friend that can retune your ECU and increase you HP by turning up your boost and increase airflow so might be able to get it up to 560hp with the intercooler upgrade. Im also looking to upgrade my front brakes to the turbo S to compensate for the extra power.

http://www.suncoastparts.com/ will probably be the best price on the stuff.

You could call and ask someone at Suncoast. I can't imagine that an ECU is cheaper than a flash though!

You could just tell them you need to buy an ECU for a Turbo S car and ask them if it pre-loaded. I have no idea really.

As a bit of an update:
I have recently installed Nitto Invos on all corners with 275/40-20 on the fronts and 315/35-20s on the rears which was an AWESOME upgrade all around.
I have purchased and installed the Supersprint primary cat bypass pipes from Jack @ Custom Performance. The car sounds the same at idle and part throttle but when you get on it...OMG it sounds amazing!
I also had Alex @ Sharkwerks re-flash my ecu with the ECT600 Turbo S tune. Right now I am running a 32 ounce can of Torco with every tank which gives me about 97 octane and the car definitely runs strong. I am going to have Julio @ AlkyControl install a alky injection kit in the next couple of weeks to mainly get the charge-cooling capabilities of the 50/50 alky/water mix. I will definitely be getting some track times in the next couple of weeks, but I fully expect the car to do low-mid 12s.

I would guess we are in excess of 550 hp now. The alky injection should sufficiently cool in the intake charge to get us close to 600 hp.
