Squeal 04 CS screams at start
#5
My opinion, sounds like a starter hanging up. Would have to remove intake manifold to replace, and is a bit more of a pain to wiggle out once the aluminum coolant pipes are installed, as the starter sits just below them.

Same with my 04 CS. It's been doing it for 2 years. it's kind of random. Every time I take her to the dealer they can't duplicate it. Man, this CS is so problematic. My coolent pipe just went just got that repaired. Now the driveshaft just went. Stering wheel shakes 56K miles. Sucks! I'm donating this piece of S#$t to Father Joe. Hope they take it.

guys if you mean the cardan shaft, any off road shop can probably replace the bearing and housing for 150 bucks if in stock.
Or go to vertex for replacement shaft, youll get a refund when you ship your damaged one back to them........350....
The cardan shaft should produce a bumping sound under the center consol when it really goes.

There is no way this noise can be the driveshaft is he just started the car and is not yet moving. If it is immediately after you start the car and you get a noise similar to something that sounds like a pigeon call or squeely/fluttery type noise for just a second or two, it sounds like the starter is still hanging up and is not disengaging fully.

I wasn't singling you out, just didn't want the OP chasing the driveshaft bearing as being related to his start up noise. Realistically, it's a rubber bushing and is going to fail, given enough time/miles.
