Take it to a shop. Even these shops take at least 3-4 hours for install. You have to remove the whole suspension in order to remove the springs. I recommend either H&R or Techart I still havent heard of anyone that installed Eibach springs.

How much do most springs lower the car, and how is the ride quality effected?
Is there a greater effect with bigger wheels?

I think my H&R springs from tirerack costs around 200. It lowers the car 1.3 Inches. The larger the wheel the better it will look
EDIT: Holy **** the price for those H&R are $310 now. I got them a year ago for 200 I believe

but do they effect ride quality?
I changed my suspension on my old car, and my brother's, and since then vowed to never do it again. No matter how much they helped, I said it wasn;t worth it. But I now see that it is.
How bad? or not so bad?
