Wind noise fix

I'm sure the dealer would think I was smoking crack to have this looked at so I took matters into my own hands.

I had this strange wind noise at highway speeds. Drove me nuts. Yes I could just turn the radio up but that would not keep me from thinking about it. So I went on a mission. No air leaks found but this noise just wouldn't go away.....Then I noticed this gap between the windshield and pillar molding on both sides. No signs that the windshield was replaced etc. So I ran a piece of tape along the windshield to simulate a seal and finally mission accomplished. So I ran a strip of tape down on the glass, one along the molding to make sure I have a nice straight line. Put a nice smooth bead of black silicone. Pulled the tape off, nice smooth line and no mess.

Little hard to see in the pic but you'll get the idea.

Nice. the pic is hard to tell but I was wondering if you put the silicone over the weather stripping for the windshield or just in between the pillar and trim piece?

It's between the pillar trim piece and the windshield itself. The silicone is on the glass itself. Hopefully this pic from the passenger side helps. You can't see the silicone unless your looking from the other side.

You did a clean job applying it. The first thing that comes to mind for me is what happens if you need a windshield replacement? Will you need to peel this stuff off? i guess the new weather stripping will fix it all together

If the windshield ever needed to be replaced it will come right off.

the sound on mine usually originates from the sunroof rubber gasket being off track and not fully sealed..

I had my friend drive so I could see if I would hear it from the passenger side. Of course my wife and friend could hear nothing. BUT I could hear a noise and it was bothering me. I also have a tick sound from the center dash area that is now my next noise issue.

They told me I should drive with the radio on and stop being so ****. Even at whisper volume I'd be ok. Whatcha gonna do, I can't help myself. I need to become one with the vehicle, so when something wrong happens I instantly hear it.

I got some annoying tick from centre dash area too. Strange. Sounds like something is expanding or shrinking
