I just had my coolant pipes replaced with the updated metal pipes on my 2004 Cayenne S. My mileage is 93,395. I had them replaced prior to failure - I felt that I was living on borrowed time. My mechanic said that there was no sign of leaks when he got to the pipes. It was done at a Porsche dealer. My total out of pocket expense for this was $1,863.69. I'm happy to have it done.

Coolant pipes
Replaced them myself on my 2005 CS (87,000 miles). They just leaked a little - Porsche declined to participate in the repairs/cost. $500 for parts and a weekend later, it drives strong again.
For anyone attempting to do it themselves, not that big of a deal. Contact me if you need advice.

Replaced them on my 2006 S with 82K, bought the kit for $400 and had a friend that is a Porsche mechanic replace them for $600. He said there were no signs of leaks but since my wife drives allot I thought it was better to be safe then sorry and have them done.

Have done mine today. 5.5 hours of non-stop, on interruption work with my ipod on. I fix cars for living though. So, mediocre wrench skills, with a good diy, 7-9 hours (better leave it to a professional). My wife drives the car at times, and i did not want her to get in trouble with our little baby. CS with 43k on it.

I just bought an 05 that runs excellent with 100K on it. It has great service records; however, at 22,600 (date 9/2006). the engine was replaced due to oil in the coolant. Does anyone know if back then they would replace the plastic coolant pipes with engine replacements?
