Flappy paddle for 957 Cayenne ?

I was told flappy paddle only works with 958.

Until I see this

Gemballa overcome the technical difficulties? The Gemballa steering wheel will lose the multimedia function. But I think that is well worth for flappy paddles.

I end up getting the thick type Alcantara steering wheel from DCM motorsport. Buying the wheel with flappy paddle attached is one thing. To make the "-" & "+" paddles running in the right way is another thing. which is obviously hard to achieve. If it's easy, many of us on board member would already having them on their cayenne

It's just wiring a few switched! Geez!

I converted a B5 S5 Audi to run BMW paddles. Christmas lights are harder to get working.

I would bet the reason nobody has done it is its just not that desirable of a mod.

Personally, I'd be more interested in the wheel/airbag combo without the radio switches so that an aftermarket stereo can be cleanly installed.

I ve got xmas tree and lights lighting up already. but could not figure out how to do the wiring for the paddles. Maybe we should do each other a favour. Do what we are great at.

Wink

I don't seem to have any good photos of this since it was done a LONG time ago.

The BMW M3 paddles are about $130 for a set. The SMG paddles also have a huge aftermarket support for upgrading the paddle itself.

There are simply two wires +/- just like any switch.

Find the 4 or maybe 3 wires coming from the Cayennes switch. Put a test meter on it set to 12v. Only 1 of the two (+) leads is going to light when you push the (+) upshift or (-) downshift button Hook that wire up to the one of the leads for the paddle shifter, hook the (-) to the other Use the opposite wire on the other side of the steering wheel so that you don't have two upshift buttons or two downshift buttons.

Disclaimer, I haven't done this on a Cayenne, but it *shouldn't* really be that difficult. The Audi S4(and the M3) also ran on a CAN-BUS system and this worked there. All you are really doing is replacing the switch

Here you can see the two wires coming from the M3 shifter. I simply cut the back of the steering wheel open with an exacto knife and slipped the M3 paddle inside, drilled a mounting hole (might be different on a Cayenne) and the rest is history.......I need to go mess with my holiday lights now..

E90 paddles might even be easier to retrofit looking at the shape of them.

I'll be honest, I'm not dying to have paddles in my CTT, but if someone wants to ship me a steering wheel and a set of paddles or everyone contribute a few dollars to a "research fund" I will try to figure out the DIY and post part numbers and details.

The cool thing about SMG paddles is that everyone and their mother makes replacement paddles in a billion styles.

Like this $70 ones on ebay in CF.

such a great idea, I much rather have paddle than thumb switches to shift gears.

Because it's not just ordinary suv. I can drive our cayenneS the same way how I drive my 5series with sports package, which handles great. I've also tried this with our RX350 and learned my lesson not to do so with RX.
