Where does your coolant temp sit? (04 CTT) and brake question

Hey guys, so no real issues, but I have noticed that the engine coolant will sometimes get to a click above 180 degrees in traffic and then go back down to 180 degrees...I assume after the fans have kicked a little more the temp goes down. Do you guys notice the same thing? While driving on the highway....It's a solid 180.

bonus question when hitting the brakes hard, I hear/feel a thud almost coming from the brakes themselves. I can feel it in the pedal. The braking doesn't seem very linear as well. More like a on/off switch. I'm wondering if I should bleed them? Any ideas/suggestions?

Mine sits at 180 but can creep a little past it on a rare occasion (very hot day, sitting idle in a drive-thru line) and I double checked with my very good Indy mechanic and they said it's normal and that 192 is spec. Sounds like yours is fine.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer about the brakes other than they are very sensitive to the touch and it takes some getting used. Not sure about the clunk. Good luck.

Ok great. Thanks for the coolant question help!! Yea the brakes are very sensitive...Maybe that's normal too (the on/off feeling of the brakes vs. a linear feel).

Yeah, I was told that's the way they were designed for the pads to be very close to the rotors. I'm not sure why they did that but it took me a bit to get used to them.

Happy driving.
